An already popular Baker Boy is set to hit our stage on November 29. Having started his career in 2017, the 21-year old Melbourne based singer, dancer, actor and artist has been an absolute sensation since day one. Having grown up in Northern Territory by the remote Indigenous communities of Milingimbi and Manigride, northeast of the Arnhem Land – Baker Boy is all about pride in himself and his community. Since his skyrocket to success Baker Boy has said he wants to inspire young kids from his hometown to embrace their culture and be leaders in their communities.

Baker Boy’s music is a feel-good and upbeat brand celebrating differences and carrying social messages whilst still getting you in the mood to dance. His lyrics are a combination of both English and Yolgnu Matha in his attempts to bridge his culture with the westernized world – aimed at making us curious about their native tongue allowing us to connect with the community. If you haven’t heard a track yet, you’re missing out on Baker Boy’s talent to integrate the two languages and his ability to provide you with a tune to vibe to.

Already in his short 2-year career Baker Boy has supported acts such as 50 Cent & Dizzee Rascal, whilst also performing at Splendor, Laneway and our very own WOMAD. If that doesn’t tell you just how good Baker Boy is, his list of achievements and awards has already stacked up. Just to name a few:

  • 2017 Triple J Unearthed competition winner;
  • 2019 Australian of the Year;
  • 2019 Artist of the year at the NIMA’s; and
